Celebrate Earth Day at Boundary Bay!

In honor of Earth Day, Boundary Bay Brewery is something, something, something…Beer specials!!! Today, April 22nd marks the first of Boundary Bay’s weekly outdoor happy hour events featuring bands, beers and BBQs.  Tonight’s performer is local folk legend Robert Blake.

From their website: “This April marks the 40th anniversary of Earth Day we are throwing a party in the Beer Garden to celebrate! On Thursday, April 22nd, we kickoff the first off our weekly Happy Hour Beer-B-Q’s from 4-6pm in the Beer Garden with live music by Robert Blake at 5pm.

Our Earth Day-inspired Sustainability Fair starts at 4pm and goes till around 8pm. This family-friendly event is FREE and will feature fun activities to encourage sustainability, a raffle and informational booths from local, sustainable businesses. There will be workshops on how to fix bike flats, an area for people to experiment with riding a bike fully loaded with groceries and Make.Shift’s bicycle generator to try! Look for local businesses like Barlean’s Fishery, Cloud Mountain, Smart Trips, Ralf’s Bavarian Bakery, The Appliance Depot and more! Find out how they make sustainable choices within their businesses and how they can help you make more sustainable decisions in your daily life.

Grow Northwest, a brand new local publication, will be celebrating their debut. Brent Cole and Becca Schwarz Cole, creators of What’s Up and the Foothills Gazette are putting together a new magazine that is all about local food, local farming/gardening and DIY home projects–kind of a Mother Earth News for Whatcom, Skagit and San Juan Island Counties. Come find out what Grow Northwest magazine is all about and how you can be involved!”

So, go check out the tunes and get some great food and beer. Remember, you can get beer to go in one of Boundary’s Earth-friendly growlers, or pick yourself up one of their stainless steel or BPA-free water bottles!  For more details, visit Boundary Bay’s website here!
