Chuckanut Brewery
Congratulations are in order for Bellingham’s very own Chuckanut Brewery. Chuckanut was recently awarded the titles of “Best Small Brewpub” and “Best Small Brewpub Brewery of the Year” by this year’s Great American Beer Festival in Denver, CO. That’s right, out of a total of 495 contestants, Chuckanut was voted #1, which is especially impressive considering they’ve been open for less than two years!
On the state level, Washington came in 4th overall, with 13 total medals. So sure, some other states got more than us, but who cares?! We still have the best coffee! Take that, North Dakota! I’m kidding, of course…North Dakota didn’t even compete. The other big winners were Colorado, California and Oregon (Nice work Pelican Pub…you know I’ll always love you!)
So, if you haven’t had the chance, I highly recommend heading downtown for a few rounds. My favorite is the Vienna Lager, which also happens to be one of the gold medal winners. Coincidence? Of course not- I have exceptional taste. Also, try the yam burrito. You can thank me later…
